Cairns is also the starting point for anyone who wants to explore Cape York Pennisula. Many of the city’s endless attractions include Rainforestation Nature Park, Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture Park, and the Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Cableway– which extends over World Heritage rainforest.
Surrounding Cairns is also a long, stretching coastline of accessible, beautiful beaches. And yes, going topless is entirely permitted here too. That includes along the Cairns swimming lagoon, which is surrounding by barbeque areas and located on the city’s esplanade.
The city also has great public transportation and a very useful system of biking pathways, making getting around this beautiful place healthy, green and scenic. And you’ll want to utilize them to explore the city’s many suburbs, which are basically tourist destinations in their own right, named after their beaches: Machans Beach, Holloways Beach, Yorkeys Knob, Trinity Park, Trinity Beach, Kewarra Beach, Clifton Beach, Palm Cove, and Ellis Beach.
